About the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal

The South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT) is a state tribunal that helps people in South Australia to resolve issues within specific areas of law, either through agreement at a conference, conciliation or mediation, or through a decision of the Tribunal at hearing. SACAT also conducts reviews of Government decisions.

SACAT strives to be accessible and responsive to Customer needs, and deals with cases in a large range of areas (or jurisdictions). The Tribunal operates across the state of South Australia and is a key part of the state justice system.

Specifically, SACAT is the place to bring:

  • Certain civil law disputes or applications, such as those that relate to landlord / tenant relationships, guardianship and administration, mental health and consent to treatment.
  • Administrative law disputes or issues, such as requests for reviews of certain Government decisions such as certain public or community housing decisions, or land valuation decisions.

In addition to traditional hearings, SACAT has a strong emphasis on alternative dispute resolution, using a range of approaches to achieve efficient and fair solutions to disputes and reviews.

About the Opportunity

The primary purpose of the Senior Community Access Officer role is to manage complex applications to the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT), from lodgement until completion. The role of Senior Community Access Officer is customer facing. The Senior Community Access Officer provides a high level of quality support services that contributes to the effective operations of SACAT.


Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be advised to submit their National Police Check Application form, including certified identification documents, to the AGD if an interview is requested. The form is not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD. If you are invited for an interview you will be required to bring a completed Job Application Pack and National Police Clearance form and ID.

Employment is also dependent upon DHS Child Related and Vulnerable Person Related employment clearances that the AGD finds satisfactory.
