Job Description
The Interpretive Officer provides the first point of contact to visitors to the site and delivers exceptional customer service, quality interpretive tours to visitors, retail sales and accurate visitor information. The incumbent will ensure visitor facilities are maintained at a high standard. The role requires the incumbent to adhere to Departmental Policies, including site cash handling procedures and WHS policies.

Multiple casual vacancies are available for an immediate start across our commercial sites on Kangaroo Island, namely Cape Willoughby Light Station, Seal Bay Conservation Park and Flinders Chase National Park. Once these positions have been filled, the employment pool will remain open and suitable applicants will be sourced as vacancies arise over the coming months.

Special Conditions
• The positions are based in Kangaroo Island
• The incumbent will be required to participate in fire management and associated duties
• Required to wear protective clothing in accordance with Departmental policy
• Required to work a roster including weekends and public holidays
• Hold a current “C” driver’s license
• The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency operations including bush fire suppression activities, commensurate with their fitness and training levels. This may require at times, some out of hours work including participation in an ‘on call’ roster.

Requirements
The incumbent must have or be in the process of obtaining a Working With Children Check (WWCC). This role has functions pertaining to working with children and is prescribed under the Child Safety (Prohibited Person) Act 2016 as requiring a Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Salary Range
GSE4, $27.41 to $27.72 per hour, plus 25% casual loading in lieu of sick leave and annual leave.
