Job Description:

The Fines Enforcement and Recovery Unit (Fines Unit) is a business unit of the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) and is responsible for the effective collection, resolution and enforcement of overdue fines and other debts owed to the state to assist in meeting the overall departmental objectives.

The Collections Officer is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in a largely inbound contact centre to clients for effective collection and/or resolution of unpaid debts (fines, expiations or civil debts.) Our inbound contact centre manages up to 2000 interactions (calls and emails) per day.  The Collections Officer is responsible for acting as first point of contact and providing prompt, accurate information using empathy and good communication skills; responding to client requests for assistance in managing their debt; establishing suitable payment arrangements, undertaking financial transactions via email and online.

A two-week, in-depth training and induction program will be provided to all successful applicants.

May be required to work at Port Adelaide and CBD Adelaide according to business needs.

This is short term contract up to 12 months. More than one position.

Selection Criteria:

  • Experience in providing a high level of customer service in a high volume, real time, client contact or team environment (contact centre or customer service environment).
  • Experience in handling cash and managing electronic payments.
  • Experience in working with multiple applications at the same time.

Special Conditions:
Multiple short term contract roles available.  Successful applicants will remain in the pool for 6 months or until a vacancy arises, whichever is sooner.

Part time hours may be available, subject to business needs

ASO2 - $56,145 p.a. min - $60,396 p.a max (adjusted accordingly to hours worked)
