About the opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Geologist – SA Discovery Mapping. The role is responsible for two work components: One, the translation, compilation and capture of existing digital geological mapping and data from the legacy SA Geology system into the new SADM system, and two, the interpretation, compilation and creation of new geological mapping and data utilising existing uncaptured map data; existing drill hole, geological sample and field observation data; and geophysical and remote sensing datasets.

Key selection criteria:

  • Ability to undertake geological map compilation through remote mapping and interpretation of regional and high-resolution geological and geophysical datasets.
  • Demonstrate competence using GIS systems to compile geological maps.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and synthesise complex information, condense key geological concepts and deliver accurate reports and data sets.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree majoring in geology or equivalent related fields.  
  • Experience with geological mapping and map compilation is desirable.
  • Experience with GIS software and processes is desirable.


Remuneration:
Classification level will be depending on experience
PO2 $85,665 - $94,801 per annum
PO3 $98,313 - $103,936 per annum
Full time role, working 37.5 hours per week


Special conditions:

  • Term vacancy up to July 2024. 
  • Intrastate field work may be required, necessitating working in harsh conditions including camping in the open, for up to 3 weeks.
