The Cadetship Program provides a culturally and organisationally relevant and supportive framework to assist you to successfully perform the role of Patient Transfer Officer with SAAS, whilst undertaking supported study and workplace orientation.

Our committed team of career and volunteer staff supports South Australians by providing emergency, non-emergency, rescue and retrieval services.

As a Patient Transfer Officer, you will be responsible for the non-emergency care and transportation of patients.  You will provide a high level of customer service and patient care by ensuring safe and comfortable transportation of patients while applying appropriate treatment pathways to achieve positive clinical outcomes. You will work closely with key stakeholders including hospital staff and nursing home personnel to ensure that patients requiring transportation receive the highest level of service. Under the direction of Operations Management, you will provide support to Emergency crews when required. 

You will use your communications skills and ability to engage with a diverse range of people from various cultures and backgrounds, to build a trusting and reassuring rapport while in transit. Your genuinely kind and compassionate nature will be key in ensuring the provision of a comfortable transportation service, providing appropriate care and attention to patient needs in what may be a variety of circumstances. You will have experience in working cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet client needs, acting promptly to solve problems whilst working under pressure. With a strong commitment to teamwork, you will bring the ability to use discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
