About the Role:
The Senior Garden Ranger
delivers quality visitor experiences at key botanic garden sites,
through the provision of basic horticultural site amenity and
safety tasks, visitor assistance, and enforcement of the Botanic
Gardens and State Herbarium Act 1978 and Regulations 2021. The role
will support the daily delivery of best practice living collection
revitalisation and maintenance, including associated landscape
maintenance by:
- Applying best practice amenity botanic gardens horticulture
- Supporting turf, tree, nursery and biosecurity management
initiatives
- Apply best practice irrigation and water management
initiatives
- Providing specialist support for event delivery, site activation
and daily visitor support services
- Provide daily site maintenance and traffic expiation services as
directed.

Contract:
12 Month Contracts
Essential Qualifications:
Certificate III in
Horticulture (Trade Level Qualification).
Special Conditions:
- Will be required to work outside of normal working hours,
including weeknights, on weekends, public holidays and any
other duties as required.
- Will be required to participate on a roster system for
duties associated with the role including on call and standby
arrangements as required. A flexible approach to duty hours and
taking of leave is essential.
- Organisational uniform is to be worn and maintained.
- The incumbent may be assigned to a position at another site
dependent on organisational and individual requirements.
- May be required to participate in fire management and
associated duties.
- Current class “C” driver’s licence,
Senior First Aid and willingness and an ability to safely
operate a 4wd and horticultural machinery is essential.
- This role has functions pertaining to working with children
and is prescribed under the Child Safety (Prohibited Person)
Act 2016 as requiring a Working with Children Check (WWCC). By
applying for this role you consent to being screened for
appropriate behaviour and to the Department obtaining, or
requiring you to obtain a WWCC.
- This role has been designated as a Position of Trust
pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government
Protective Security Policy Framework. By applying for this role
you consent to being screened under the process of obtaining a
National Police Clearance (NPC), and to the Department
requiring you to obtain an NPC.
Remuneration:
GSE6, $38.99 min - $39.46 max per hour including a 25% leave
loading in lieu of sick leave and annual leave.
