Join Our Team as a Senior Horticulturalist at the Botanic Gardens!

Are you an experienced Horticulturalist with a passion for botanic gardens and living collections? We’re looking for Two Senior Horticulturalists to join our dedicated team in supporting the daily operation of the Botanic Gardens. As a key specialist, you will help maintain and revitalise our curated living collections and associated landscapes, contributing to the preservation and growth of our botanical treasures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert Horticultural Care: Apply best practice amenity botanic gardens horticulture to maintain and enhance our living collections.
  • Sustainability & Management: Support turf, tree, nursery, and biosecurity management initiatives while promoting water-efficient irrigation and water management systems.
  • Event & Visitor Support: Provide specialist support for event delivery, site activation, and daily visitor services.
  • Site Maintenance: Assist with day-to-day site maintenance services to ensure the gardens are always in pristine condition.

Contract: 
2 Positions Available
1.) Full Time Ongoing
2.) Contract till 31 December 2025

Essential Qualifications:
Certificate III in Horticulture (Trade Level Qualifications).

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in fire management and associated duties.
  • May be required to work outside of normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Organisational uniform is to be worn and maintained.
  • The incumbent may be assigned to a position at another site to that advertised dependent on organisational and individual development requirements.
  • Current class “C” driver’s licence, Senior First Aid and willingness and an ability to safely operate a 4wd and horticultural machinery is essential.
  • This role has functions pertaining to working with children and is prescribed under the Child Safety (Prohibited Person) Act 2016 as requiring a Working with Children Check (WWCC). The role also required a National Police Check (NPC). By applying for this role you consent to being screened for appropriate behaviour and to the Department obtaining, or requiring you to obtain a WWCC and NPC.

Remuneration: 
GSE6, $61,646 min - $62,374 max p.a.
