About the Role:
Varying contract lengths offered based on business needs.
We are seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our
Field Officer Emergency Response Team. These roles are vital to
maintaining the health and safety of South Australia's beaches and
coastal environments. Your primary responsibility will be the
removal and safe disposal of deceased marine life, including fish,
from coastal areas and you will be required to participate in
responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
Key Duties:
- Conduct regular patrols of designated beach areas.
- Identify, collect, and dispose of dead fish and other
marine debris.
- Operate basic equipment and vehicles safely (e.g., gloves,
tongs, bins, trailers).
- Record data on fish mortality events and environmental
conditions.
- Assist with public safety and beach presentation.
- Follow environmental and biosecurity protocols.
- Work collaboratively with other field staff and
supervisors.
- Participate in other state emergency responses or
associated duties.

Contract:
This is a pool recruitment. Successful applicants will remain in
the Pool for a period of 12 months.
Special Conditions:
- Will be required to participate in responses to state
emergencies or associated duties.
- A current class “C” (minimum P2) driver’s
licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is
essential.
- Will be required to wear a uniform and appropriate PPE in
accordance with departmental policy.
- Will be required to work outside of the normal hours of
work including weekends and public holidays.
- Will be required to participate on a roster system for
duties associated with emergency response including on call and
standby arrangements.
- You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or
provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows
you to work in Australia.
- Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be
required to obtain a National Police Check.
Remuneration:
OPS1 $30,171 min -
$55,000 max p.a.
OPS2 $$58,709 min - $63,154 max p.a.
