About the Role:
The South Australian National Parks and
Wildlife Service has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and
capable person to take on a senior regional role as a District
Ranger in South Australia. You will live on the western Eyre
Peninsula and lead a team working across a stunning and diverse
terrestrial and marine environment.
The District Ranger Far West is responsible for the management
of the district's public land estate, including the network of
terrestrial, island and marine parks. The District Ranger leads a
capable team of operational and Ranger staff based at three work
locations and works closely with Traditional Owners to manage park
conservation and heritage values, ensure park facilities and assets
are maintained and that visitors enjoy a safe and memorable
experience.
The District Ranger is an integral member of the regional
management team and works collaboratively with Traditional Owners
and other Aboriginal partners to ensure the efficient and effective
operations of the District. The role works with other community
leaders and key partners to ensure mutually beneficial parks and
wildlife management outcomes.

Contract:
Ongoing contract.
Special Conditions:
- Will be required to participate in emergency operations
including bushfire operations, search and rescue and marine
mammal strandings. This may require, at times, some out of
hours work including participation in an “on-call”
roster.
- Will be required to work some weekends and public
holidays.
- Will be required to undertake a medical and fitness
assessment for a Fire Fighting Role Classification as defined
in the DEW Fire Management Policy and Procedures.
- May be required to work from any location within the
region, or any region or management unit within the state.
- Will be required to wear a uniform in accordance with DEW
policy.
- A current class “C” driver’s licence and
willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is
essential.
- Intra and inter-state travel is required, including
extended periods of time away from home and travel in light
aircraft.
- A current Provide First Aid Certificate is desirable
(HLTAID001; HLTAID002 and HLTAID003).
- This role has functions pertaining to working with children
and is prescribed under the Child Safety (Prohibited Person)
Act 2016 as requiring a Working With Children Check (WWCC). By
applying for this role you consent to being screened for
appropriate behaviour and to the Department obtaining, or
requiring you to obtain a WWCC.
- This role has been designated as a Position of Trust
pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government
Protective Security Policy Framework. By applying for this role
you consent to being screened under the process of obtaining a
National Police Clearance (NPC), and to the Department
requiring you to obtain an NPC.
Remuneration:
ASO7 $108,109 min - $116,864 max p.a.
