About SA SES

The South Australian State Emergency Service (SA SES) is a volunteer-based emergency assistance and rescue organisation providing vital support to the South Australian community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Each year, SA SES responds to thousands of calls for assistance, helping to save lives and protect property across the state. Our 1800 volunteers, based in 69 units across South Australia, are supported by a dedicated team of staff committed to the same mission: minimising the loss of life, injuries and damage from emergencies and natural disasters.

Our vision is to be a reliable and trusted volunteer-based organisation building safe and resilient communities. We are guided by our values of service, professionalism, trust, respect, collaboration, honesty, courage and sustainability.

At SA SES, we take pride in serving with integrity, working together to find solutions and striving for excellence in all we do for the safety and resilience of all South Australians.

Join the SA SES Talent Pool

We are seeking motivated, adaptable and outcomes-driven individuals to join the SA SES Talent Pool for employment opportunities based at our Head Office in Keswick.  You will be placed in the heart of our statewide operations, close to our leadership team, emergency coordination activities and a supportive group of colleagues who genuinely care about each other and the community we serve.

You will enjoy:

  • meaningful work which makes a tangible and positive impact on our local community,
  • a diverse, collaborative workplace that values teamwork, innovation and wellbeing,
  • opportunities for professional development, including formal learning and on the job training, and
  • car parking, bicycle parking and end-of-trip facilities.

To succeed in a role at the SA SES, you will:

  • align with and embody our core values,
  • be driven by a desire to support our volunteers in protecting the South Australian community, and
  • approach your work with engagement, collaboration and a commitment to continuous improvement at the forefront.

Talent Pool members are engaged on 12-month casual contracts with hours per week dependent on organisational requirements. Joining our Talent Pool will provide you with opportunities to support key projects, initiatives and operational priorities across the agency. This may also include filling short-term vacancies while permanent staff are on leave.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable public sector experience, contribute to meaningful community outcomes, and strengthen your professional skills in a dynamic emergency services environment.
