Whyalla Hospital and Health Services is one of the largest regional hospitals in South Australia, offering 75 beds, including flex beds and a dedicated High Dependency Unit. We provide a comprehensive range of services, including emergency care, medical and surgical services, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatient clinics. Our Cancer Resource Centre is among the largest in regional SA, featuring six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care, and counselling services - helping patients receive vital treatment close to home. We are also proud to be one of only three regional stroke services in South Australia, delivering specialised stroke treatment 24/7 in partnership with metropolitan stroke units. Living and Working in the Flinders and Upper North Region - Whyalla

 

About the Role:

As a Registered/Clinical Nurse - Operating Theatre, you will provide high-quality nursing care within a dynamic surgical environment, supporting safe and effective patient outcomes. You will also participate in on-call requirements to support the needs of the service.

At the Registered Nurse (RN/M1) level, you will develop from a novice to a proficient practitioner, consolidating your knowledge and skills through continuous professional development and hands-on experience. You will be accountable for your own standards of care and for activities delegated to others.

At the Clinical Nurse (RN/M2C) level, you will build on your experience and/or further study to practise as a competent to proficient clinician. You will take on increased responsibility, including accountability for your own practice, delegated activities, and the guidance and development of less experienced staff. While remaining predominantly clinical, you may also undertake portfolio responsibilities aligned with your career development goals. 

 

About You:

RN/M1

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
• Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.

RN/M2C

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
• Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
• Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
• Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.

Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)
