Tell us about your career pathway.

After completing a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing and Strategic Management), I worked as a project officer in the Victorian Public Sector. I stayed in project roles when I moved to South Australia within universities and the Education Department. I then gained a project management role and have recently been promoted, managing a small project delivery team.

What does an average day look like?

The beauty of project roles is that every day can be different, although some aspects remain the same. My primary role is to ensure there is integration across projects while always being mindful of timelines, budgets and risks.

What do you love about your job?

I love the diversity the role brings as well as working with staff within the central office and the broader school community. I enjoy working across many portfolios within the Department including HR, early childhood, infrastructure, strategic policy, business intelligence, and child protection.

Why do you do what you do?

I love knowing that what I do is contributing to outcomes for the South Australian community. It gives me a lot of drive and passion to come to work every day and perform to the best of my ability.

What do you see are some of the benefits of working in the public sector?

The South Australian Public Sector provides opportunities for career progression, to gain skills and experience in other areas, and new challenges. This, along with great working conditions, have meant that I haven’t looked back since entering the public sector workforce.

Why have you chosen to work in South Australia?

I came to South Australia not knowing what to expect but I have been pleasantly surprised. Adelaide is a beautiful city and South Australia has a lot to offer such as the beaches, wineries and food. It provides a good work-life balance. South Australia is home.
