About the role:
The Ministerial Liaison Officer is responsible for facilitating
timely and effective communication between portfolio agencies and
the Minister’s office. The role includes operational support and
the provision of relevant and timely information to advisers and
other members of the team. The Ministerial Liaison Officer will
manage and monitor a broad range of issues related to the
Minister’s portfolio/s and parliamentary obligations.
As a Ministerial Liaison Officer, you will:
- Receive correspondence and inquiries from members of the
public and ensure that issues are addressed appropriately with
a high level of customer service.
- Exercise judgement and knowledge of departmental policy and
functions in preparing, editing and assisting with replies to
ministerial correspondence.
- Support the Minister’s parliamentary obligations including
the coordination and management of Parliamentary Briefing
Notes, estimates briefings, preparation of Bill folders and
monitoring the passage of legislation.
- Identify, establish, and maintain effective working
relationships and a network of stakeholders across government,
to ensure they receive professional, expert and timely
advice.
- Develop, review, and maintain effective procedures and
strategies in accordance with legislation to ensure the
delivery of appropriate services between the Minister's office
and the department.
Key Competencies:
To apply and succeed in the role, you will have:
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills,
organisational and time management skills, including the
ability to cope with high volumes of work and changing
priorities.
- Demonstrated experience in providing executive and/or
administrative support and advice within strict timeframes to
achieve required outcomes.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills (including
negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution) and a proven
ability to build and maintain effective relationships and
foster an environment of trust and cooperation.
- Abilities to problem solve within a team and achieve
positive outcomes for customers and stakeholders
- Proven ability to sustain high level performance, determine
priorities, organise workloads.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently under broad
direction, apply judgement, and initiative.
Remuneration: Competitive salary of ASO6 p.a.
plus superannuation

Qualifications:
Essential: Nil
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Parliamentary, Cabinet and Executive Council
processes, and Legislation proceedings.
- Experience in a Chief Executive’s or Minister’s
office.
Special Conditions:
- The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE) for up to 2
years
- Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History
Check or National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to
commence
