About Us

Picture a career that’s more than numbers. At the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), we’re building a world‑class Treasury for South Australia—one that’s innovative, collaborative, and future‑focused.

We’re South Australia’s lead agency for economic, digital, and financial policy outcomes. Our work touches every corner of the state, from enabling frontline services to driving digital transformation. And we do it all with one purpose: to make life better for the people who call South Australia home.

Why This Role Matters

The systems you support in this role underpin how government manages and reports public money. As a Senior Systems Support Consultant, your work helps ensure financial information across South Australian Government is accurate, secure and available when it matters most.

By keeping critical financial systems stable, reliable and fit for purpose, you directly support informed decision‑making, strong governance and public trust. Your technical expertise enables agencies to operate smoothly, respond to change and deliver services that have a real impact on the lives of South Australians.

About the Opportunity

As a Senior Systems Support Consultant, you will provide expert-level support, maintenance and advice across complex mainframe financial systems. You’ll collaborate with agencies, vendors and technical specialists to ensure systems are reliable, secure and fit for purpose — while helping government deliver outcomes that matter to South Australians.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead maintaining, debugging, testing and programming, the customisable components of Masterpiece and associated systems.
  • Lead the realisation of a range of significant project outcomes by undertaking projects and or participating in project teams.
  • Embrace the SSSA change management framework and risk management procedures and adhere to ITIL principles via the use of a case management tool.
  • Provide expert advice on specific application software issues involving both Masterpiece functionality and interfacing systems including any necessary technical coaching.
  • Provide expert advice on the capability of Masterpiece and related software to meet business needs, Machinery of Government changes and Government policy directions.

Remuneration

ASO7 ($112,163 - $121,246 p.a.) + 12% Superannuation

About You

  • Proven ability to identify and resolve technical mainframe issues either internally or through liaison with external service providers.
  • Proficiency in the use of Sort-exits for data extraction, SQL, CA-Dataquery, Microsoft 365 and familiarity with internet-based tools.
  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal) and a customer first mindset.
