The Leader, Science Curriculum 7-12 demonstrates specialist expertise in secondary education, providing high-level advice and leadership across SA Curriculum, Australian Curriculum V9, and SACE. The role directs resources and curriculum development in collaboration with practitioners, leveraging extensive knowledge to guide system-wide implementation and improvement. Science education engages students in inquiry, experimentation, and evidence-based reasoning across biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space sciences. This specialist field inspires curiosity, exploration, and understanding of the natural and technological world. Through scientific literacy, practical investigation, and ethical perspectives, Science prepares students to address contemporary issues and contributes to ongoing advancement and sustainability. The Leader, Science Curriculum 7–12 collaborates with the Curriculum directorate and key stakeholders to implement evidence-informed curriculum and strengthen teacher capability. The role monitors emerging trends locally and globally, activating areas of Impact and guiding strategic learning design to enhance educational outcomes across the system.
Qualifications Essential: A tertiary qualification in education and current full teacher registration. Desirable: Expertise in secondary education: Biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space sciences.
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years. STL3 $152,287 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%)

This is a full-time contract position (1.0 FTE), offering an initial fixed-term contract until 23 January 2029. This position operates under conditions similar to those of the Public Sector Act 2009 (PS Act).
