Role Details

The Senior Project Officer Heritage will join a team of other Senior Project Officers within Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation, to:

  • Apply legislation and develop policy frameworks to assess complex cultural, political, environmental, legal and sensitive Aboriginal heritage issues and applications for authorisations, determinations and delegations under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1988
  • Provide high-level advice suited to a range of internal and external stakeholders, including the State Aboriginal Heritage Committee, the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and executives across government
  • Consult and work with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal people and organisations and formulate decision recommendations relating to Aboriginal heritage in South Australia

Special Conditions

  • Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
  • Employment-related Screening Check required.
  • Regular travel in regional and remote South Australia may be required, including overnight stays.
  • Out of hours work will be required from time to time.
  • Possession of a current driver’s licence and willingness to drive is essential, including off-road in a 4WD vehicle (4WD training available).
  • Comply with the Code of Ethics for the South Australian Public Sector, relevant legislation and AGD policies and procedures.
  • Employment is dependent upon a compliant National Police Certificate that the AGD finds satisfactory.

Additional Notes

Training opportunities in cultural awareness and facilitation may be available for successful applicants.
