We are currently seeking applications for a Senior Financial Analyst, to join the Digital Investment Fund (DIF) at The Department of Treasury & Finance (DTF) for an initial period of 24 months.

Remuneration:  ASO6 – Salary Range ($102,171 - $108,071 p.a.).

About the opportunity:

The Senior Financial Analyst is part of a high performing team of specialist resources that are delivering positive digital outcomes for the South Australian government. The role is accountable for providing a range of high-level financial analysis and consultancy services to stakeholders within the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) and the public sector agencies applying for funding from the DIF. This role will work in consultation with DTF’s Budget and Performance and Finance branches to assist in dynamically managing DIF funding and will lead the process of the release of DIF funding to public sector agencies for approved initiatives and Artificial Intelligence Proof of Value (AI PoV) trials, and monitoring agency spend against the approved initiative and PoV funding.

About you

As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will have tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance commerce or a related field and be able to review, analyse, evaluate and interpret financial information and performance against key performance indicators/approvals to ensure compliance and to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement. You will be a great communicator, with both written and verbal communications, which will enable you to liaise with a range of stakeholders, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal DTF branches and with the agencies the DIF interacts with. As a key member of the DIF team you will work effectively both with your colleagues and independently to prioritise work, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy of the DIF records and documentation produced. Your skills and ability to perform complex functions associated with data analysis and visualisation, including statistical analysis, will assist the DIF by developing insights, building models and solving business needs.

To be successful you will be:

  • Able to demonstrate significant knowledge and understanding of Government financial policies, Departmental Guidelines, Accounting Standards, Treasurer’s Instructions and Audit requirements.
  • Experienced in maintaining the integrity of financial data.
  • Able to demonstrate your conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to critically review, assess and monitor complex financial information in collaboration with key stakeholders,
  • Capable of interpreting and presenting financial information to senior executives in an informative and innovative way, that aligns with the goals of the DIF.
  • Able to anticipate the need for the development of new policies and procedures; provide direction and technical advice on changes to existing policy/procedures in pursuit of best practice opportunities.
  • Collaborating with project teams to ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability.

The 2025-26 State Budget, resulted in further funding for the DIF, currently totalling $326 million, with a portion of $28 million provided specifically to fund an Artificial Intelligence ‘Proof of Value’ Program (AI PoV) over a four-year period from 2025-26 to 2028-29. The Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) has built out the framework required to efficiently operate the DIF, with a specific framework for the AI PoV Program.
