About Us

Picture a career that’s more than numbers. At the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), we’re building a world‑class Treasury for South Australia—one that’s innovative, collaborative, and future‑focused.

We’re South Australia’s lead agency for economic, digital, and financial policy outcomes. Our work touches every corner of the state, from enabling frontline services to driving digital transformation. And we do it all with one purpose: to make life better for the people who call South Australia home.

Why This Role Matters

The Government’s primary financial management system Masterpiece, used by most SA Government agencies excluding SA Health, is over 30 years old and nearing the end of its service life. The Finance Reform Program is leading a major initiative to replace it with Oracle and implement best practice processes. This transformation will significantly change how finance functions are performed across agencies and affect a wide range of stakeholders, including finance, ICT, and operations teams.

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll help drive strong financial integrity and trusted reporting across government. Your work will support better decisions, major system reform, and outcomes that genuinely matter for South Australia.

About the Opportunity

This opportunity allows you to do interesting, impactful work that strengthens how public finances are managed across South Australia.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high‑quality financial accounting and statutory reporting across government.
  • Support major financial system reform that will transform how finance is delivered statewide
  • Provide trusted accounting advice that helps agencies meet compliance and reporting obligations
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including auditors and client agencies
  • Share expertise and provide guidance that helps lift financial capability and confidence across teams and agencies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, quality assurance and better financial processes

Remuneration

ASO6 ($102,171 - $108,071 p.a.) + 12% Superannuation

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Brings strong financial accounting experience in complex service or project environments
  • Communicates clearly and confidently with a range of stakeholders
  • Enjoys solving problems and providing practical, high‑quality advice
