About the Opportunity

The Manager, Emergency Aviation leads the delivery and ongoing operation of the State Police, Ambulance and Rescue Aviation Service (SPARAS), ensuring the service meets the operational needs of all user agencies and aligns with departmental and State Government priorities. The role operates in a complex, high‑risk environment, providing strategic and operational leadership to support public safety outcomes. The role is responsible for leading the SPARAS team, managing high‑value service provider contracts, and building strong relationships with senior executives, operational stakeholders and external partners to ensure effective, safe and customer‑focused service delivery. 

 

About the Business

The Public Safety Solutions Unit within the Attorney-General's Department delivers mission critical shared services to government agencies, primarily those responsible for providing emergency services to the South Australian community. These include the SA Computer Aided Dispatch (SACAD) system, the SA Government Radio Network (SAGRN) and Emergency Aviation.

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

  • Some out of hours work may be required.
  • Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
