Financial Accountant to join the Financial Accounting team
at the Department of Treasury & Finance for a period of up to
12 months at Port Adelaide.

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you drive trust,
transparency and sound decision making across government
by delivering high quality financial statements and expert
accounting advice that help agencies meet statutory obligations and
deliver real outcomes for the South Australian (SA) community.
About the Opportunity
In this role, you will:
- Provide professional accounting and financial
management services, building strong, respectful
relationships with SA Government clients.
- Support and guide team members delivering
end‑to‑end accounting services in a complex
service delivery-oriented business.
- Maintain and manage a strong control
environment and contribute to a positive, client
focused team culture.
- Ensure financial services meet the
legislative, service level and accounting standard
requirements.
- Provide practical advice on
complex accounting issues, informed by
research and analysis.
- Deliver high‑quality financial statements,
including audit coordination and supporting documentation.
- Contribute to process improvement, quality
assurance and change initiatives to strengthen service
delivery.
Remuneration
ASO6 ($102,171 – $108,071 p.a.) + 12%
Superannuation
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in accounting, finance, economics
or equivalent, with eligibility for membership
to a professional accounting body. Noting this is desirable,
not essential.
- Proven financial accounting experience,
including preparation of financial statements, complex
reconciliations, financial accounting reports and
functions.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining
strong, collaborative professional
relationships with clients and stakeholders through
clear written and verbal communication.
- Works effectively part of a team by motivating,
inspiring and contributing to a positive team culture
to achieve successful outcomes.
- Experience providing financial advice on
complex issues supported by sound analysis and
research.
- Proven experience using financial
systems such as SAP, Oracle or Masterpiece.
