About the Business
Finance, Digital and Customer Support Our Finance, Digital and Customer Support Division oversees the department's budget and financial compliance responsibilities, its infrastructure and assets portfolio, as well as procurement and quality assurance functions, digital, data and technology and screening transformation. They provide support and strategic advice across the department regarding a range of DHS goals, systems and processes.

Role Details
The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Manager, Strategic Finance and Analysis and is responsible for delivering high-level financial analysis and consultancy services to stakeholders across the Department. The role plays a crucial part in collecting and interpreting financial data, developing financial models, and providing recommendations that support Cabinet submissions, business cases, and investment decisions. A significant aspect of the role involves analysing financial performance, preparing reports, and advising on corrective strategies to drive improvement and align with departmental objectives. In addition, the Senior Financial Analyst assists business units in developing complex business cases for new initiatives, including cost estimation and funding options, and contributes to the preparation of ministerial briefings, budget papers, and policy documents. The role requires strong analytical skills, advanced financial modelling and reporting capabilities, and the ability to communicate insights effectively to a range of stakeholders. Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners is essential, as is supporting process improvement initiatives within the department. To be successful in this role, candidates must hold a relevant degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline, with further qualifications such as CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants considered desirable.
