An exciting opportunity has arisen join the Office of the General Counsel within SAPOL as a solicitor.  The successful applicants will work in a small team undertaking a wide variety of legal work, including managing legal issues relating to civil and administrative law matters, coronial inquests and providing legal advice across a broad range of areas relevant to SAPOL.  Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas of legal practice are encouraged to apply: civil claims and litigation, administrative law, employment and disciplinary matters, statutory interpretation, coronial inquests, and police powers including counter-terrorism legislation.

The Office of the General Counsel supports SAPOL’s priorities and strategies and contributes to SAPOL’s vision of Safer Communities by providing proactive legal support services which enable effective corporate governance, and enhance and support robust, defensible administrative decision-making.  The Office provides responsive, high quality legal and legal policy advice focussed on contributing to the priorities and objectives of the organisation to the Commissioner of Police, the Executive Leadership Team and SAPOL members generally.

Special Conditions

  • The incumbent must hold a current Australian work eligibility status and will be subject to a criminal history check.
  • The incumbent may be assigned to other duties at this remuneration level or equivalent.
  • Some out of hours work and intra/interstate travel may be required.
  • The incumbent is required to participate in SAPOL’s iEngage program.

Salary

LE03 - $108,903 - $116,737 per annum.
