Job reference: 840114 Location: 5000 - ADELAIDE Job status: Short Term Contract Eligibility: Open to Everyone Classification: LEC3 - LEC5 About the Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for legal professionals to join the Civil Litigation Section of the Crown Solicitor’s Office at LEC3 to LEC5 classification. Subject to varying degrees of supervision and direction the successful applicants will provide high quality legal advice and representation on matters of varying complexity to clients of the Crown Solicitor’s office. The successful applicants will undertake a variety of advice and representation work (including the supervision of less experienced solicitors) across a wide variety of jurisdictions in the Civil Section which manages commercial disputes, coronial inquests, defamation, personal injury claims (including medical negligence and dust disease claims), employment issues, non-party and pre-action discovery and the compensation of victims of crime. Preference will be given to applicants with significant personal injury experience particularly that arising from medical negligence.
About the Business The Crown Solicitor's Office provides legal services to government specifically to Ministers, departments and other public sector agencies. This includes providing legal advice, conducting a wide range of litigation including representation before courts and tribunals, negotiating and drafting for commercial property and general commercial transactions, drafting and producing a broad range of other legal documents, conducting summary prosecutions, Magistrates' appeals and native title claims and land conveyancing and investigation. Special Conditions for Employment Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
