About the Commissioner for Children and Young People
The Commissioner for Children and Young People is an independent statutory authority established under legislation to promote and advocate for the rights, development, and wellbeing of children and young people in South Australia.
The office works across government, community, and non-government sectors to ensure young people’s voices are heard in decisions that affect their lives. A strong focus sits on participation, inclusion, and improving outcomes for vulnerable and at-risk children and young people.
Operating in a complex stakeholder environment, the organisation plays a key role in influencing policy, driving engagement, and supporting systemic change through advocacy, research, and youth-led initiatives.

Your new role
As Youth Programs and Engagement Officer, you will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of key youth participation and engagement programs, including the new Young Changemakers Network SA.
You will design and facilitate workshops and engagement activities, working directly with children and young people to co-design programs and ensure their voices shape outcomes.
The role manages end-to-end program delivery, including planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation. You will balance multiple priorities to deliver high-quality engagement activities across both online and in-person environments.
You will build trusted relationships with young people, community organisations, and stakeholders across government, while ensuring all activities reflect inclusive practice, safeguarding requirements, and child rights principles.
Working closely with internal teams, you will contribute to communications, support broader initiatives, and use insights from engagement to improve programs and support advocacy outcomes.
