Join our Division of Surgery and Perioperative Medicine Team as a Exercise Physiologist!
Reporting to the Nurse Consultant as a member of the Weight Management Service multi-disciplinary team, the Exercise Physiologist is accountable for delivering culturally appropriate, equitable, comprehensive, high quality and contemporary exercise physiology services to SALHN patients. Duties for the role will include:
- Providing assessment of patients and appropriate evidence based exercise physiology interventions such as functional rehabilitation, exercise prescription, physical activity education, development of care plans, discharge planning and patient, family/carer self-management strategies.
- Appropriately documenting assessments, interventions and patient management plans.
- Working within an interdisciplinary team based model of care, liaising with other Health Professionals to ensure patient assessment and treatment is coordinated and appropriate.
Please note, there is the possibility for extension, including ongoing appointment, at the end of this term vacancy.
About you:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in human movements, inclusive of the exercise physiology elective and eligible for accreditation from Exercise Sports Science Australia (ESSA)
- Sound knowledge of the environmental, physical, behavioural, genetic and clinical conditions impacting obesity including chronic disease.
- Ability to use professional judgement in clinical decision making, which contributes to the development of new and innovative service models to respond to the changing needs of the health system and the community.
- Demonstrate ability to organise workloads, under limited direction in a high-demand multifaceted environment and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal people; people; from other Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds; people with mental illness, disabilities or other vulnerable groups.
