Term Contracts
- As per the SMOEA 2025, the total term
of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations
following the initial 12-months allocation to
State-wide Fellow Paediatric General Medicine will be
determined in line with your training and SA Health's
requirements. This may include transfer to other SA
Health locations to perform work appropriate to
classification, skills, and
capabilities.

About the role
Senior Paediatric Fellow functioning as a team leader
responsible for acute care decision making and supervision of
junior trainee medical officers in a multidisciplinary team in
General Paediatrics. The role is suited to an Advanced Trainee
looking to consolidate broad based paediatric expertise while
developing leadership supervisory and acute care decision making
skills. Functions as a Consultant Paediatrician and team leader
with supervision from consultant and playing a central role with
delivery of high-quality evidence-based care to patients across
acute and general paediatric settings.
Coordinates care across subspecialty teams and participates in
clinical audits, quality improvement and leadership activities.
This is an ideal role for completion of advanced training moving
into a Consultant Physician role.
There are positions at Women's & Children's Hospital (WCH),
Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) and Lyall McEwen Hospital (LMH) with
each site supporting leadership activities, Continuous Improvement
Programme, Leading Clinicians - Company Director's courses, AFRAMCA
Course and opportunities in paediatric clinics.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or
equivalent,
- Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a
Medical Practitioner
- Clinical experience and competence in the practice of
paediatric medicine.
- Satisfactorily completed RACP Basic Paediatric Training
requirements and considered an Advanced Trainee as
applicable.
- Ability to work as an effective team member in a
multi-disciplinary environment
- Problem solving and decision-making skills (both clinical
and individual)
