About the opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Project Officer (ASO6) to join the Northern Water Commercial Unit (NWCU) within the Department for Energy and Mining.

This role supports the delivery of strategic priorities for the Northern Water Project by coordinating project activities, schedules, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

Working closely with the Manager, Risk/Project Coordination and finance colleagues, you will contribute to the successful delivery of commercial and financial outcomes that inform the project’s Final Investment Decision.

This is a full-time term engagement until 7th of May 2027.
 
Key duties
  • Coordinate project activities, schedules and documentation to ensure delivery of agreed milestones and outcomes.
  • Maintain project plans, registers and governance documentation to support effective oversight and reporting.
  • Monitor project progress and support the identification, tracking and escalation of risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Prepare clear and timely reports, briefs and papers to inform decision making.
  • Support finance related project activities including coordination of information and contributing to analysis where required.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagement activities, including agendas, papers and actions.
  • Maintain and apply project management tools, templates and frameworks aligned with organisational standards.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across government and industry.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project coordination processes and practices.

Key Selection Criteria
Please address the following criteria in your cover letter:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects or supporting project delivery within a complex environment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports and coordinating meetings.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.


Qualifications:
Essential: Relevant tertiary qualifications in project management, business administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Remuneration:
ASO6 classification
Salary range: $102,171 – $108,071 per annum (plus superannuation)
Full-time role, 75 hours per fortnight

Special Conditions:
This is a term engagement until 7 May 2027
Appointment is subject to a satisfactory National Police Check
Eligibility to work in Australia is required
