About the opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated professional to join FERU in a key partnership‑focused role supporting civil debt recovery across government.

In this role, you will work closely with public authorities, debt partners and internal teams to provide operational guidance, monitor performance and identify opportunities to improve recovery outcomes.

You will play an important role in influencing how debt is managed across the system — supporting partners to navigate legislative and operational requirements, strengthening consistency in approach, and contributing to continuous improvement of processes, reporting and system functionality.

This role is suited to someone who can balance strong stakeholder relationships with sound judgement, using data, insight and collaboration to support practical, sustainable improvements.

About the role

In this role, you will:

  • Work with public authorities to provide advice on debt lodgement, performance trends, risks and opportunities to improve recovery outcomes
  • Monitor recovery performance and identify improvement opportunities across agencies and debt partners
  • Provide oversight and support for civil debt recovery arrangements, including managing complex matters and escalations
  • Prepare analysis and recommendations to support decision making, including write‑off or resolution actions
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, public authorities and external partners
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including enhancing processes, reporting, procedures and system functionality
  • Support onboarding of new public authorities and the development of best practice procedures and guidance materials

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Build strong, professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and work effectively across organisational boundaries
  • Apply sound judgement and initiative in complex or ambiguous situations
  • Use data and analysis to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, providing practical and balanced advice
  • Navigate compliance and legislative requirements while maintaining a focus on outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with others to deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes in a fast‑paced environment
