About the role

Are you a motivated and organised professional who thrives in a dynamic environment? The Department for Education is seeking a dedicated ASO2 Administrative Officer to join our team at the Felixstow Education Office.

The Administrative Officer is responsible for the undertaking and maintenance of general office administrative processes, procedures and systems ensuring that business and discipline support tasks are delivered in a timely and consistent manner.

The role of the Administrative Officer requires the incumbent to directly support Disciplines within the Felixstow Education Office, including speech pathology, social work, psychology and educators so that service objectives can be met. The Administrative Officer reports to the designated Business Support Partner for the provision of a consistent approach to a holistic administrative support to the local office disciplines and works closely with their designated discipline team on a day-to-day basis.

Day to Day duties

  • Greet visitors and respond to telephone and email enquiries in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Maintain office records, including filing, archiving, and updating databases.
  • Schedule appointments and manage meeting room bookings.
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence, newsletters, and documentation as required.
  • Organise and coordinate meetings and events, including minute taking
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Order and monitor office supplies and stationery.
  • Support the onboarding process for new staff
  • Assist with basic finance-related tasks such as processing invoices

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general administrative systems.
  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to supporting positive outcomes for students and school communities.
  • Previous experience in an educational or public sector setting is highly regarded.

Special conditions

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.

The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration

ASO2 $64,195 - $67,154 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) and leave loading.
