The Opportunity

As the Senior Lawyer, you will provide legal advice, advocacy support and legal representation in areas of civil and administrative law practice, including Migration, Mental Health, Guardianship and Administration, NDIS Appeals, Equal Opportunity and Housing.

You may be required to appear before the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART), the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT) and other relevant higher-level Commonwealth and State Courts in appeal matters.

The Senior Lawyer, Civil Law is also responsible for providing mentorship and guidance to junior practitioners within the Civil Law Division.

Salary Range

$115,959 - $126,492 per annum pro rata plus 12% super and leave loading.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses.

Term of Employment

Ongoing contract available at the LSC3 classification level.

What You Need for Success

The ideal candidate will:
  • Hold an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate or currently eligible to apply for an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate.
  • Be admitted or eligible for admission as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia and High Court of Australia.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years post admission legal experience.
  • Have experience with private or public legal practice files management.
  • Have experience in mentoring and supervising junior lawyers to set direction, provide guidance, upskill staff and, coordinate work.
  • Knowledge of civil and administrative law including migration, mental health, guardianship and administration and NDIS law desirable.
