About the opportunity:
The Senior Geologist - Energy Resources will play a pivotal role
in promoting petroleum and emerging energy resource exploration and
development in South Australia. You will facilitate strategic
outcomes for energy resources by leading multidisciplinary
geological projects and providing authoritative technical advice to
industry, government and research partners.
Working in the Geological Survey of South Australia (GSSA)
within the Strategic Policy and Delivery division, you will
investigate the State’s energy prospectivity, deliver
targeted geoscience outputs and communicate insights through
publications, data packages and presentations at major
conferences.
Key duties include:
- Lead and deliver complex geoscientific projects that assess
petroleum and emerging energy prospectivity across SA.
- Publish findings and present at major conferences;
contribute high quality content to DEM platforms.
- Provide expert input to acreage releases; assess Energy
Resources Act 2000 licence applications and work programs.
- Establish collaborative partnerships with industry,
universities and government to advance energy geoscience.
- Support compliance monitoring of licence conditions in
collaboration with DEM licensing administrators and
regulators.

Key Selection Criteria:

- Demonstrated experience delivering complex geoscience
projects in petroleum and/or emerging energy contexts.
- Strong knowledge of South Australian geology, prospective
petroleum basins and emerging energy resources.
- High level communication skills - publish, present and
provide clear written advice to varied audiences.
- Ability to build strategic partnerships with industry,
universities and government agencies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Energy Resources Act
2000 (ERA2000)
Qualifications:
Essential: Degree in Science
majoring in geology or geophysics.
Desirable: Proficiency with industry standard geoscience software
(e.g. ArcGIS, Geolog, Petrosys, Kingdom, WellCAD).
Remuneration:
Salary range $101,285 -
$107,078 per annum plus superannuation
PO3 classificaiton, full-time role (37.5 hours per week)

- Travel to departmental sites required; out of hours work
may be required.
- Interstate/international travel may occur; periods of
absence possible.
- A current driver’s licence is essential.
