As per the SMOEA 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-months allocation to Advanced Trainee Paediatric Cardiology will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.

About the role

The Advanced Trainee Paediatric Cardiology contributes to high standard paediatric clinical services across South Australia. Working under the direction the Clinical Director, the role provides inpatient and outpatient cardiology care, supports emergency paediatric presentations, and contributes to teaching, research and multidisciplinary service delivery. The position is part of an Advanced Training pathway with a strong focus on clinical development and supervision.

Key duties of the role

• Participate in outpatient cardiology clinics including assessment, management and follow-up of patients in consultation with supervising Consultants.
• Provide inpatient care including admission assessment, care coordination, daily management, discharge planning and ongoing review.
• Support diagnostic and investigative processes including organisation, interpretation and reporting under supervision.
• Contribute to teaching, supervision of junior medical officers, research activities and departmental quality improvement initiatives.

Skills and Experience

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Completion of Basic Training requirements and eligibility for Advanced Training in Paediatric Cardiology.
• Sound clinical skills in paediatrics and relevant subspecialty practice.
• Strong communication, teamwork and decision-making skills in high-pressure clinical environments.
• Commitment to patient-centred care, quality improvement and professional development.
