About the Role:

The Café Assistant plays an integral role in supporting the successful and profitable operation of the Granite Island Café, ensuring that all visitors enjoy a high‑quality dining experience in a uniquely scenic environment. Working in a location renowned for its natural beauty, this position offers an exceptional workplace setting, one where your daily surroundings reflect tranquillity and charm.

  • The Café Assistant supports the retail area by maintaining consistently high standards of customer service, ensuring products are well‑presented, effectively promoted, and accompanied by friendly, attentive service.
  • Visitors, team members and other stakeholders are provided with required information in both written and oral form.
  • High quality data is available about the business performance via accurate and timely data entry across all processes and systems.
  • The café area is a clean, tidy and safe work site with all staff complying with approved and established safe working procedures and WHS policies and legislation.
  • Industry standards are consistently met in hygiene and orderliness for the preparation, cooking and presentation of food.
  • Compliance with Departmental policies, including relating to money handling and the use of computerised Point of Sale (POS) system are maintained at all times.

Contract: 
Contract for up to 12 Months 

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
  • Regular weekend and public holiday work is required as well as being available during peak seasonal times including school holidays.
  • Wearing a company uniform during working hours and/or when representing the department is mandatory.
  • You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia.
  • Prior to being employed, the successful applicant will be required to obtain a National Police Check.

Remuneration: 
GSE2 $38.56 min - $38.96 max per hour including 25% casual loading in lieu of annual leave and sick leave.
