The Department for Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential and important government services to our community.

The Opportunity

The department has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Assessment Officer to help shape how land and development proposals interact with the State’s transport network. The role delivers assessments, investigations, and clear advice across land and property matters, development referrals and road opening or closing proposals. It also supports decisions under multiple legislative frameworks and contributes to divisional initiatives that improve the performance and efficiency of South Australia’s transport system.

About you 

You bring sound knowledge of transport, planning or land tenure processes, supported by an understanding of relevant legislation. You manage high workloads with accuracy and meet deadlines consistently. Your strong analytical and research skills enable clear advice and quality reporting. You work effectively under general direction, use initiative, set priorities, and support team outcomes. You communicate professionally, respond to customer needs, and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Educational Qualifications /Licences  

  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in conveyancing, land tenure, planning or similar fields will be highly regarded.
  • Contemporary knowledge of transport, planning or land tenure management disciplines, issues, trends and directions is desirable.
  • A current Drivers licences is essential

Special Conditions

  • A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.
  • Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
