About Us

Picture a career that’s more than numbers. At the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), we’re building a world‑class Treasury for South Australia—one that’s innovative, collaborative, and future‑focused.

We’re South Australia’s lead agency for economic, digital, and financial policy outcomes. Our work touches every corner of the state, from enabling frontline services to driving digital transformation. And we do it all with one purpose: to make life better for the people who call South Australia home.

Why This Role Matters

The Government’s primary financial management system Masterpiece, used by most SA Government agencies excluding SA Health, is over 30 years old and nearing the end of its service life. The Finance Reform Program is leading a major initiative to replace it with Oracle and implement best practice processes. This transformation will significantly change how finance functions are performed across agencies and affect a wide range of stakeholders, including finance, ICT, and operations teams.

As a Tax SME, you’ll Play a key role in shaping how finance works across South Australia — delivering expert tax advice that supports a world-class Treasury.

About the Opportunity

In this role, you will:

  • Provide expert tax accounting advice to support a major whole‑of‑government finance reform program
  • Help design and implement standardised, best‑practice financial processes across agencies
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure solutions are practical, compliant and future‑ready
  • Contribute to the successful rollout of a new financial management system that will be used across government
  • Support improved efficiency, automation and consistency in tax‑related processes

Remuneration

ASO7 ($112,163 - $121,246 p.a.) + 12% Superannuation

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Brings strong tax accounting knowledge within a complex organisational environment
  • Has extensive experience of current Tax Accounting policies, processes and requirements across the SA Government.
  • Enjoys solving complex problems and turning analysis into practical solutions
  • Communicates confidently and provides clear, trusted advice to diverse stakeholders
  • Builds productive relationships and works collaboratively across teams
