The South Australian Housing Trust (Trust) is seeking Expressions of Interest from Aboriginal peoples who are passionate about improving housing outcomes for Aboriginal communities and want to contribute their knowledge, lived experience and leadership to the SAHT Aboriginal Advisory Committee (AAC).
The Trust’s Aboriginal Advisory Committee provides an Aboriginal-led voice to inform and guide the South Australian Housing Trust Board and Management  on housing priorities, policy development and the implementation of the South Australian Aboriginal Housing Strategy 2021–2031.

We are seeking several new committee members to complement the existing membership and ensure strong representation from Aboriginal communities across South Australia.

About the Committee
The AAC plays an important role in:

  • Providing advice to the SA Housing Trust Board on Aboriginal housing priorities and challenges
  • Supporting implementation of the South Australian Aboriginal Housing Strategy 2021–2031
  • Informing social housing and home ownership initiatives
  • Contributing to Closing the Gap housing targets and reforms
  • Providing Aboriginal-led advice on policy, service design and community engagement
  • Strengthening Aboriginal voices in housing decision-making across South Australia

Who We're Looking For
We welcome Expressions of Interest from Aboriginal people with community leadership experience and/or lived experience  or professional expertise, in areas such as:

  • Aboriginal housing and community development
  • Regional and remote housing issues
  • Homelessness and pathways out of homelessness
  • Family and domestic violence
  • Aboriginal Community Controlled Housing
  • Housing asset management and maintenance
  • Capital projects, construction and infrastructure
  • Home ownership and affordable housing models
  • Policy development and advocacy
  • Partnership development and community engagement
  • Economic participation, empowerment and self-determination initiatives

Previous board or committee experience is welcome but not essential.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people from regional and remote communities and are committed to achieving a diverse committee that reflects the breadth of Aboriginal communities across South Australia.

  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and good governance

Time Commitment
The Committee meets quarterly, generally on the second Wednesday of the final month of each quarter (March, June, September and November). Meetings are typically four hours in duration and may be attended in person or via video conferencing.

Members are expected to actively participate in meetings and undertake reasonable preparation beforehand.

Remuneration
Eligible committee members receive remuneration in accordance with Government Board and Committee guidelines, currently:

Committee Member: $177 per four-hour meeting session

Travel and related expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with applicable government guidelines.
