About the role
The Registered Nurse/Midwife assesses and coordinates person‑centered care for patients with complex needs, planning and implementing appropriate services across disciplines. The Registered Nurse/Midwife provides nursing or midwifery care with growing autonomy, supporting children, youth, women, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The Clinical Nurse/Midwife delivers proficient, person‑centered nursing or midwifery care, monitoring care plans and overseeing team performance. The Clinical Nurse/Midwife supports the Unit Manager in clinical, management, and education tasks while coordinating multidisciplinary services and resolving care or service issues to ensure optimal outcomes.
Key duties of the role
Registered Nurse/Midwife
Assess individual patient needs and plan, implement, and coordinate appropriate service delivery.
Provide direct person-centred nursing/midwifery care and individual case management.
Plan and coordinate services with other disciplines or agencies.
Participate in quality improvement activities.
Provide ward/team leader/coordination as required on a shift-by-shift basis.
Clinical Nurse/Midwife
Provide proficient, person centred, clinical nursing/midwifery care and individual case management.
Monitor patient care plans to ensure appropriate care outcomes are achieved.
Oversee the provision of nursing/midwifery care within the team.
Assess clients, select and implement different therapeutic interventions and support programs, and evaluate progress.
Assist and support the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities.
Skills and Experience
Registered Nurse/Midwife
Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. OR
Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. OR
Registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice.
Commitment to providing consumer/client and family centred care.
Clinical Nurse/Midwife
Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. OR
Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. OR
Registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
