Work Health and Safety Business Partner - Make Healthcare Safer

Join SA Health as a part-time Work Health and Safety Business Partner at Flinders Medical Centre, where you will champion workplace safety across one of South Australia's leading healthcare facilities. You will provide expert consultation, conduct risk assessments, and develop safety programs that protect our dedicated healthcare workforce. About the role: 

Reporting to the Team Leader, the WHS Business Partner is accountable to the WHS Preventions Team Leader for ensuring the provision of a prompt, comprehensive, effective, and efficient injury prevention service for SALHN employees in accordance with Work Health Safety legislation, SA Health Policy, SALHN procedural and Accreditation Standards.    

Duties for the role will include:

  • Leading implementation of WHS plans, programs and strategies which support the strategic priorities of SA Health and the health reform agenda,
  • Implement the WHS system, processes, policies, and procedures as established for the SA Health WHS programs across SALHN, Contribute to the development SALHN WHS processes, leading implementation across assigned divisional portfolio’s, supporting development of local initiatives which support the strategic objectives of SA Health and meet legislative and Standards requirements,
  • Deliver prompt, efficient, cost effective and equitable WHS services across SALHN supporting safe environment and safe systems of work with the aim of zero harm,
  • Lead innovative approaches in response to WHS risks within assigned portfolios, while contributing to development of network strategies, via highlighting successful divisional initiatives reflecting positive results,
  • Participating in professional improvement training to maintain / develop skills / knowledge / expertise,
  • Demonstrating appropriate behaviours which reflect a commitment to the Department of Health values and strategic directions

About you:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in WHS, health, psychology, behavioural science, allied health and/ or significant levels of discipline knowledge of Work Health Safety legislation and demonstrated experience in the application of ISO45001 International Standard for Organisational Health and Safety management,
  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership, guidance, and consultancy support to network stakeholders (executive, leadership, managers, health, and safety representatives, WHS committees) within a large complex organisation,
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, build, and maintain relationships which actively fosters and promote a positive safety change culture and be outcome focussed in a complex environment,
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills with ability to engender trust and cooperation effectively with senior management, health professionals, key stakeholders, and staff,
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results with tight timeframes and changing environments to a high standard,
  • Demonstrated experience in provision of WHS Officer Due Diligence performance reports, within a self-insurer setting,
  • Demonstrated experience in analysing statistical data and reports,
  • Demonstrated experience in use of software packages to develop, analyse and present information, prepare documents, and to plan and implement projects,
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising and negotiating with senior management, health professionals and a range of key stakeholders in providing high level written and verbal responses
