About the role:
The Business Support Officer provides a range of efficient and
effective coordination, administrative and project support services
across the Skills Policy and Quality directorate. The role
facilitates the provision of timely and accurate advice and
information providing diverse assistance to the Director and the
team that supports the effective daily coordination of the
directorate’s activities as well as meet relevant work priorities
and outcomes.
As a Business Support Officer, you will:
- Provide effective and efficient support to the Director,
Managers and team members of Skills Policy and Quality
directorate, often in relation to confidential matters.
- Manage and coordinate meetings/conferences, organising
necessary travel arrangements, prepare relevant meeting papers
and information, book meeting rooms and organise catering, and
undertake a range of administrative assistance.
- Liaise with senior agency executives and managers to ensure
that the Director and management team are kept informed on any
urgent requirements and requests, including proactively
alerting the Director, managers and team members of emerging
issues and opportunities.
- Compose documents such as agendas, minutes, letters,
reports and spreadsheets.
- Monitor incoming correspondence and initiate appropriate
actions including redirection to appropriate officers and/or
undertake initial research and response where necessary.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of policy and
strategy projects in Skills SA by providing support as needed
by the Policy teams.
Key Competencies:
To apply and succeed in the role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in providing a broad range of
administrative support services, including organising travel
arrangements, preparing and distributing meeting papers.
- Demonstrated well‑developed interpersonal and communication
skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a
diverse range of stakeholders including senior management and
executives.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and
collaboratively, exercising sound judgement, initiative and
problem‑solving skills when managing issues, research tasks and
responding to competing priorities.
- Experience in producing high quality documents and
briefings using MS Office and/or record management
systems.
Remuneration: Competitive salary of ASO3 p.a.
plus superannuation

- The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE) for up to 2
years
- Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History
Check or National Police Check (NPC) and Working with Children
Check is required prior to commence.
