Services
The Department employs
approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons
and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Our
vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and
reducing re-offending. We work towards this through the
contribution of staff who are employed in a wide variety of fields,
from correctional officers and teachers, to social workers,
psychologists and supervisors of court orders. Their commitment
ensures we deliver quality services to prisoners, offenders and

Duties
This
position is only open to applicants of Aboriginal and/or Torres
Strait Islander descent pursuant to Section 56 (2) of the Equal
Opportunity Act, 1984.
The Aboriginal Programs Officer
reports to the Team Leader, Aboriginal Offender Management &
Rehabilitation Services and is responsible for the development and
delivery of high-quality rehabilitation programs specifically to
Aboriginal prisoners and offenders. The position includes advising
on customisation, development and delivery of programs,
responsibility for planning and review of Aboriginal specific
programs, and may include assistance with assessment.
Special
Conditions
- Section
47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with
other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial
entitlements.
- The
incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National
Criminal History Check;
- A
current South Australian Driver’s Licence is
essential;
- A
flexible approach to working hours is required;
- Some
interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may
necessitate overnight absences.

Essential:

Desirable:
Tertiary qualifications in Adult Education, Social Work, Human
Services or Anthropology to a standard approved by the
Chief Executive.

ASO5
($85,790 - $95,413)

There is more than one position available.
Successful applicant will be appointed at either classification
depending on the qualification and experience held.
