The Opportunity:

The GIS Officer is responsible for ensuring spatial analysis (GIS), information capture and management needs for Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board (HFLB) staff are met, through advice, training and the provision of GIS, mapping, data analysis and information management services.  The GIS Officer works in the Planning and MERI team and supports HFLB staff in the use, collection and management of spatial data for project planning, delivery and reporting. The GIS Officer develops apps to assist teams’ data collection, maintains spatial databases, delivers analyses of spatial and non-spatial data, and produces a range of spatial products (maps, or other graphic representations) using GIS software and relevant applications.

As a GIS Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring spatial environmental data collected for HFLB projects adheres to corporate standards through the provision of advice and guidance to HFLB staff.
  • Managing and maintaining HFLB spatial and non-spatial databases to corporate standards.
  • Empowering HFLB employees to collect, manage and/or use spatial data through the development of customised web-based mapping tools and the provision of training and support in the use of ArcGIS products, data loggers, and other relevant technologies.
  • Undertaking spatial analysis and providing statistical analysis on spatial data for HFLB projects.
  • Establishing and maintaining strategic and collaborative partnerships and working relationships with project teams, other landscape boards and stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes from GIS and other information management systems.
  • Identifying future business requirements and information management needs of the region and providing advice on new spatial data platforms and data collection tools to the Team Leader – Planning and MERI for consideration.

The details:

  • 1x full-time (37.5 hrs/per week, negotiable), ASO5 GIS Officer
  • Term position to 30 June 2028, available immediately
  • Located in Mount Barker, South Australia

Remuneration:

$89,007 - $98,991 per annum (ASO5) – pro-rata for part-time hours

Requirements:

  • National Police Check
  • Current class “C” driver’s license and willingness to drive is essential
  • Australian residency or a current work permit
