Role Description:

The Sustainable Agricultural Facilitator is an externally funded position working closely with Kangaroo Island Landscape Board staff, farmers, land managers, local farmer groups, farming systems groups, agri-business, industry bodies and agencies. The role designs and implements workshops, events and activities that promote sustainable farming outcomes that achieve Australian Government and Kangaroo Island Landscape Board objectives for sustainable agriculture and natural resources outcomes. The position provides technical advice, expertise and facilitation of information across a range of agricultural and environmental issues, including emerging initiatives such as net zero carbon farming, carbon and biodiversity credit markets and natural capital accounting.

As the Sustainable Agricultural Facilitator, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementation of the Sustainable Agricultural Facilitator program which is coordinated, evaluated, and delivered on time and within budget.
  • Development and delivery of projects and programs that increase community and stakeholder awareness and adoption of best practice in agriculture and natural resources management are identified, developed, delivered and reported in a timely manner and to a high quality.
  • Development and delivery of projects, programs, information and technical advice which increases landholder, staff and stakeholder knowledge and adoption of net zero production, natural capital accounting and carbon and biodiversity market opportunities.
  • Active engagement with team members to progress the Kangaroo Island Landscape Board monitoring, evaluation, reporting and improvement (MERI) framework with a focus on capturing improvements in agricultural land management practices.
  • Priority and emerging sustainable agricultural issues are identified and addressed through effective implementation and management of strategies that leverage strong collaborative partnerships, relationships and networks with farmers, local farmer groups, farming systems groups and local, state and commonwealth government agencies.

Special Conditions:

This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protection Security Policy Framework.  By applying for this role you consent to being screened under the process of obtaining a National Police Clearance (NPC), and to the Department requiring you to obtain a NPC.

Remuneration: $89,007 - $98,991 per annum (ASO5)
