The Organisation

The Courts Administration Authority is constituted by the Courts Administration Act 1993. The Act established the State Courts Administration Council as an administrative authority independent of control by executive government and to confer on the Council power to provide courts with the administrative facilities and services necessary for the proper administration of justice.

Participating courts of the Authority are the Supreme Court, District Court, Environment, Resources and Development Court, Youth Court, Magistrates Court, and the Coroner's Court.

The Sheriff’s Office

The Sheriff is a statutory officer appointed pursuant to the Sheriff’s Act 1978 on the recommendation of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The Sheriff is responsible for administering the Juries Act 1927 and the Sheriff’s Act 1978 which requires the provision of emergency services to the courts, in-court support, court precinct security, and prisoner security services. The Sheriff is also responsible for the service and execution of civil and criminal processes in South Australia.

The Courts Administration Authority (CAA) is seeking an Enforcement Operations Supervisor to oversee the functions of a team of enforcement sheriff’s officers, manage administrative functions and support a small team of administrative staff.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Enforcement Operations Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise a group of enforcement sheriff’s officers who are engaged to execute enforcement duties on behalf of the Sheriff.
  • Manage civil enforcement cases in accordance with legislation, court rules and sheriff’s office procedures.
  • Ensure timely execution of the service of documents and court orders with respect to warrants, in line with service level agreements.
  • Monitor, maintain and report on enforcement outcomes, compliance and case records and support a small cohort of staff who work within the Sheriff’s Office Registry.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Manager, Enforcement to achieve favourable outcomes for the Sheriff.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated experience working within a dynamic team (enforcement or legal experience desirable), have an understanding of records management principles and be able to deal with conflict if challenging situations arise. You will have the demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

Special Conditions:

The following special conditions apply to this position:

  • Appointment is under the Courts Administration Act, 1993. Terms and Conditions of employment are governed by the Public Sector Act, 2009.
  • Appointment is dependent upon a current National Police Certificate that the CAA finds satisfactory.
  • As a justice agency, the CAA may receive details of spent convictions as part of any Criminal History Screening and use this information in the selection process.
  • Some out-of-hours work may be required

Remuneration:

ASO4 ($79,432 - $83,266 pa plus 12% superannuation)
