About the Department for Correctional Services

The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Our vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and reducing re-offending. We work towards this through the contribution of staff who are employed in a wide variety of fields, from correctional officers and teachers, to social workers, psychologists and supervisors of court orders. Duties

The Community Service Supervisor is responsible individually, or as a team member, for

  • supervision of offenders assigned to community based work programs (RepaySA) in accordance with statutory, Departmental and Work Health and Safety requirements
  • liaison with a variety of government and non-government agencies in relation to the supervision of
    offenders assigned to various project work, including specific RepaySA work.

 

Special Conditions

  • Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
  • The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check.
  • A current South Australian Driver’s Licence is essential.
  • May be required to work regularly on a Saturday for which an allowance is paid.
  • May be required to take recreation leave at times of the year (usually Christmas and Easter) that the RepaySA program closes.
  • A current Senior First Aid Certificate is essential.
  • Trades (skilled/unskilled) experience and ability to operate and maintain minor machinery is highly desirable.
  • A flexible approach to working hours is required.

OPS2 ($64,194 - $67,154pa)

Additional Information 

This is a casual position for up to 12 months with irregular hours and no guaranteed hours of employment

An additional 25% loading in lieu of sick leave, recreation leave loading and public holidays not worked will be applied to the hourly rate.

The position will be located within the Northern Region which services the York Peninsula.
