The Department for
Infrastructure and Transport plays a vital role connecting people
and places in South Australia by managing roads, marine and public
transport networks across the State, and builds and maintains the
State-owned infrastructure that enables the delivery of essential
and important government services to our community.
The
Opportunity
The Emergency Management
Project Officer supports emergency management outcomes within the
Safety, Security, Risk and Emergency Management Directorate. The
role delivers timely, cost‑effective, project based services that
support planning, preparedness, coordination and implementation
activities. Responsibilities include promoting and implementing
emergency management strategies, policies and key plans, and their
integration across the department. The position also provides
expert advice and specialist input into emergency management
policies and planning.

You are a customer focused
professional who delivers positive outcomes while working within
departmental systems and policies. You operate effectively with
limited direction, collaborating across government to provide
timely, informed advice on complex issues and manage risk. You
bring experience coordinating emergency and risk management
initiatives, supported by strong analytical, research and
communication skills.
Education
Qualifications /Licences
- An Emergency
Management or other relevant qualification is
desirable.
- A driver's licence is
essential.
Special
Conditions
- This position includes
fulfilling an on-call function, rotating with other staff at
intervals.
- While on call the
appointee must be immediately contactable 24 hours a day, fit
to drive, and be available to respond to emergency
notifications and/or report to the State Emergency Centre
within 60 minutes of receipt of a call or text.
- In the event of an
emergency any staff member of the Emergency Management Team may
be required to assist in the response to and recovery from an
incident under the State Emergency Management Plan.
- This may involve
working in the State Emergency Centre, the department’s Command
Centre or at an incident management team or similar role. This
may potentially include long hours and challenging work
conditions.
- A National Police
Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department
for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every
three years.
- This role is
classified as a position of trust and will be subjected to a
satisfactory criminal history record check in line with
departmental policies and procedures
- Some
out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate
travel requiring overnight stays, may be
required.

Remuneration
ASO5 - $89,007 to
$98,991 pa + superannuation
