Site and Service: Whyalla Hospital Whyalla Hospital and Health Services is a large regional hospital comprising of 75 beds including flex beds and a designated High Dependency Unit. The hospital provides a wide range of services, including emergency, medical and surgical, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatients. Whyalla Hospital's Cancer Resource Centre is one of the largest in regional South Australia. It includes six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care and counselling services, reducing the need to travel outside of the region for care. It is also, one of three stroke services in regional SA, providing specialised treatment for suitable stroke patients 24/7, supported by metropolitan stroke units. Our staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers, to ensure that optimum care is delivered to all areas of the community. About the Role: The Clinical Nurse (RN/M2C) role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced nurses to expand their clinical expertise across diverse healthcare settings. At this level, nurses build on their solid foundation, progressing from competent to proficient practitioners. As a Clinical Nurse, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of care, while also guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. This position involves taking on more leadership responsibilities, including overseeing delegated activities and offering support to colleagues, all while ensuring the delivery of person-centered care. With the opportunity to take on portfolio responsibilities, your role can be tailored to align with your career development goals, promoting continuous growth and professional advancement within the organization. The Registered Nurse (RN/M1) role is ideal for nurses who are developing from novice to proficient practitioners. At this stage, nurses are focused on consolidating their knowledge and skills through continuous professional development and hands-on experience in various healthcare settings. While nurses at this level are still refining their expertise, they are entrusted with accountability for their own standards of care and activities delegated to others. The role emphasizes the importance of building clinical competence while supporting team collaboration and patient-centered care. This position offers a supportive environment where nurses can grow their capabilities and progress toward higher levels of practice and leadership within the nursing profession.
