The Role:

There are multiple roles available related to strategic planning, growth planning and planning policy used in development assessment across the State.

The Planning Officer applies professional skills and expertise to support implementation and maintenance of strategic planning frameworks, programmes and projects related to the coordination of urban development and infrastructure in new growth areas, and updates to the policies of the Planning and Design Code.

The role reports to a Manager and works under the professional direction of more senior staff but is required to demonstrate and apply appropriate levels of initiative in relation to professional practices. Support is also provided to colleagues on a range of projects and programs.

About You:

To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:

  • A recognised degree or post graduate qualification that supports the relevant discipline of planning and development or related field.
  • Ability to interpret, review and implement policy, legislation and regulations.
  • Ability to work under professional direction, independently or as part of a team, plan and coordinate activities, set priorities, achieve objectives within deadlines and make timely and well-informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated and strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop collaborative and effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, internal and external to government.
  • Strong organisational skills and proven ability to determine priorities, cope effectively with high volumes of work and to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in a planning related role or related field such as urban design, social planning, public policy or environmental planning..

Essential Qualification:

A recognised degree or post graduate qualification that supports the relevant discipline of planning and development.

Special Conditions:

Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.

Remuneration:

PO2 – $91,565 min – $106,074 max plus superannuation.
