Join the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Nurse Consultant in Community Palliative Care, where you will make a meaningful difference in patients' lives during their most vulnerable moments. Based in Adelaide's northern metro region, this full-time ongoing position offers the chance to lead specialist palliative care services while supporting families and communities across diverse healthcare settings.

As part of SA Health's commitment to delivering world-class healthcare, you will work within our Primary Health Care unit, providing expert clinical leadership and consultation services to ensure patients receive compassionate, dignified end-of-life care in their preferred environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist palliative care consultation and clinical expertise across community settings
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams in developing comprehensive care plans
  • Mentor and support nursing staff in palliative care best practices
  • Collaborate with families, carers, and healthcare professionals to optimise patient outcomes
  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives

About You: 

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services: 

Lyell McEwin Hospital  The major hospital in the north and north-east for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetrics, paediatrics and outpatient services. 

Modbury Hospital  A general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care. 

Mental Health - The Division of Mental Health provides a comprehensive range of public mental health services for youth, adults and older people in northern Adelaide. Services are provided through community health centres and hospitals, and to consumers in their own homes.  

Forensic Mental Health - A statewide service that operates as part of the Division of Mental Health for forensic patients and prisoners.  

Community Sites - Elizabeth GP Plus, Modbury GP Plus and Gilles Plains GP Plus Super Clinics providing community based care.
