As per the SMOEA 2025, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-months allocation to Advanced Trainee Neurology & Clinical Neurophysiology will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.

About the role

The Neurology Advanced Trainee/Fellow participates in the provision of inpatient and outpatient Neurology and Diagnostic Neurophysiology services within WCHN under appropriate supervision. The role contributes to clinical care, diagnostic interpretation and reporting, while supporting education, research, and professional development within the Department. The position is part of the RACP Advanced Training pathway toward Fellowship.

Key duties of the role

• Provide supervised inpatient and outpatient care for neurology patients within the Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology service.
• Participate in diagnostic neurophysiology testing including EEG, EMG, NCS and evoked potentials, and contribute to interpretation and reporting.
• Provide consultative input to other inpatient services regarding neurological diagnosis and management.
• Prepare clinical reports for medical practitioners and authorised external recipients under supervision.
• Contribute to teaching, research, clinical audit and departmental quality improvement activities.

Skills and Experience

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
• Completion of RACP Basic Training and eligible for Advanced Neurology Training.
• Clinical competence in neurology, neurophysiology and general paediatrics appropriate to level of training.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and meet FRACP training requirements.
