Expressions of interest are sought from legal practitioners of at least 7 years’ standing who meet the eligibility criteria and who wish to be considered for appointment as the Inspector.

About the role

Appointed by the Governor, the Inspector will conduct:

• annual reviews examining the operations of the ICAC, OPI and Ombudsman during each financial year
• reviews relating to relevant complaints received by the Inspector
• other reviews on the Inspector's own motion or at the request of the Attorney-General or the Crime and Public Integrity Policy Committee
• any other functions conferred on the Inspector by other Acts.

The powers and duties of the Inspector are set out in Schedule 4 of the Independent Commission Against Corruption Act 2012 and section 29 of the Ombudsman Act 1972.

The Inspector will be appointed for a term of up to 3 years, on conditions determined by the Governor.

Eligibility

Applications are sought from legal practitioners of at least 7 years’ standing.

Applicants who are not members of an Australian Parliament and who are not appointed as a judicial officer on a permanent basis may apply.
